2003 Virtual Causeway supports local Blues Festival
Blues, Brews and Barbeques is taking place for the third year in a row in Kitchener, Waterloo. Virtual Causeway has been volunteering their staff for the past two festivals, and the tradition is being continued this year. In addition to employee's volunteering, Virtual Causeway is also a sponsor for the two-day event, assisting in funding with the annual festival.
Members of the Virtual Causeway staff will work as festival volunteers for the weekend doing everything from setting up, tearing down, selling food and other items to raising funds for the festival. Of course, employees also get to enjoy the great blues sounds, see the live acts and enjoy the local food.
The festival is a free community event promoting blues music, great BBQ food, and responsible drinking in a family friendly environment. It is a non-profit organization supported by the OCAF (Ontario Cultural Arts Fund), the City of Kitchener and Kitchener Downtown Business Association.
The festival committee launched the 1st annual festival on August 16th, 2001 which attracted over 3,000 enthusiastic blues fans. By 2002, the festival grew to 8,000 fans. This year promises to be another excellent turnout with more great festivities, food and fans. An annual Fundraising Gala has been added to the line-up of events and the festival will also have its first ticketed event - a concert by ex-Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor at Stages Nightclub on Friday night.
2003 is the 3rd annual Blues, Brews and Barbeques Festival, taking place on Friday August 8th & Saturday August 9th, on the Civic Square in front of City Hall in downtown Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. There is an exciting line up of local and international blues acts including: Mick Taylor, Chicago's top live blues entertainer and Rounder recording artist Eddy 'the Chief' Eddy, Juno award winners for Blues Album of the Year Fathead, W.C. Handy award winner Mel Brown, 11 year old guitar wizard Jimmy Boskill and many more over the two days!
