2003 Virtual Causeway Employees WALKING to Fight Against Multiple Sclerosis

On April 13th, over 1500 hundred individuals gathered in a unified commitment to help those in their community, and across the nation, to find a cure for multiple sclerosis. In a demonstration of support and concern, they took to the pavement and WALKed together to help stamp out this growing and misunderstood disease.

In 2003, Virtual Causeway made a commitment to the MS Society through the TeamMS program. Team Virtual Causeway is a group of nearly 30 individuals, consisting of employees, friends and family, who share a goal of raising $100 each for the foundation. On April 13th, the employees WALKed stride for stride with other participants at the Kitchener-Waterloo Super Cities WALK for MS. They came together to join the fight against multiple sclerosis.

The Super Cities WALK for MS is an annual event occurring across North America and last year, millions of dollars were raised. In Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, local WALKers raised over $225,000. The MS Society's mission is to be a leader in research toward finding the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis while also providing services that enable those affected by MS to enhance their lives.

The MS Society is a national organization committed to assisting those with multiple sclerosis and their families. The organization is made up of volunteers, clients, participants, donors, corporations and staff. Each has an important role to play in its success and each contributes in a unique fashion. Over the last several years, the MS Society has noticed a marked increase in its support from the corporate community locally and across the nation. Through corporate sponsorship, participation in events, and loaning of personnel to volunteer, the value this important sector of society has contributed continues to grow.

Multiple sclerosis is the most common disease of the central nervous system affecting young adults. Often progressive over time, the cause and cure of MS remain unknown. To donate, or find out more about the MS Society and its' events, please visit www.nationalmssociety.org or www.teamms.ca
