2002 Virtual Causeway supports the local community by sponsoring Blues, Brews and Barbeques music festival

At Virtual Causeway our most valuable resource is our people. It is therefore very important to be a part of the community they live in and get involved with special events. One of Virtual Causeway's staff, Dan Graham is the president of the local Blues Brews and Barbeques festival, held in Kitchener on the second weekend in August. Virtual Causeway became involved as a Blues Booster this year, sponsoring the Friday noon hour kick off concert in front of Kitchener City Hall.

12 members of the Virtual Causeway staff, as well as COO Rick Endrulat, worked as festival volunteers for the day setting up, and tearing down, as well as selling pizza, CD's and T-shirts (to raise funds for the festival), while being paid by Virtual Causeway. All of the staff that were available also volunteered (without pay) for the main festival day on Saturday, most working more than 12 hours, and doing everything from Media coordinator and head of security, to working the pizza booth and doing surveys.

Blues Brews and Barbeques is a free community festival that promotes local blues talent, as well as an opportunity to see some international recording artists, all in a family atmosphere, where drinking responsibly is also stressed. This year the festival drew over 8,000 people and featured headlines such as blues legend Jackie Washington, Mel Brown and Alligator recording artists Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials.
