The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is a key player in effectively articulating our clients' corporate messages in a consultative solution selling approach, to successfully promote leading-edge technology products and services. Critical to success in this role is an in-depth knowledge of our clients' value proposition/business value, market intelligence, and a keen interest in technology.
The BDS will be responsible for accurately capturing and qualifying leads and effectively managing prospects through the lead generation funnel. He/she will engage with our clients' prospects and business partners to help them move opportunities forward in the sales cycle. A combination of Internet research, data profiling, marketing activities, and most importantly, cold calling are the key sales activities that are required in generating leads for our clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Key player in effectively articulating our clients’ corporate message in a consultative “solutions-based” sales approach
- Successfully promote leading edge technology solutions to key decision makers
- Create, deliver, and tailor messages and value propositions to effectively support new business opportunities
- Prospect, develop and qualify leads as per client requirements
- Perform research on companies as a component of lead generation and qualification activities utilizing the web and other research tools available
- Develop detailed summaries for company representatives to understand a prospect's business pain and infrastructure
- Ensure leads meet specified criteria including - need, authority, purchasing timelines and available budget
- Maintain high levels of motivation and be engaging, with outstanding communication skills and solid team ethics
- Effectively manage a sales pipeline for a variety of projects and clients; track and record all contacts in a CRM environment; as well as delivering on sales targets and performance metrics
- Build relationships with the prospect organizations (Fortune 1000, small and medium business customers, from end-users to CEOs)
Minimum job Requirements
- Marketing, Business, or Communications degree preferred (college or university)
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet research with Salesforce.com experience an asset)
- SPIN selling or other solution selling methodology experience an asset
- 2-5 years, business-to-business, outbound, business development/lead generation or inside sales experience, preferably in a high tech environment
- Ability to maneuver on the telephone; reach the decision maker, pitch, probe, overcome objections, negotiate, and close qualified opportunities/meet deadlines
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with solid team ethics
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate and deliver value to Virtual Causeway’s clients
